In our second week of summer camp we will explore creativity, with a hands-on week where campers experiment with clay, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, and mixed media to build skills, confidence, and artistic curiosity. Each day focuses on a different medium and a fun project campers can take home.
Note: the clay projects will need to dry before we can fire in our kiln.
Daily projects:
- Pottery Painting: Pre-made bisque pottery (mugs, small bowls, figurines) painted with underglazes/ceramic paints, finished with clear glaze. Focus: color mixing, brush techniques, personalization.
- Clay Hand Building: Soft clay projects using pinch, coil, and slab methods (small sculptures, pinch pots, simple tiles). Focus: form, texture, basic surface decoration, and safe clay tools.
- Canvas Painting: Individual 8x10 or 11x14 canvases for themed paintings (landscapes, abstract, or character art). Focus: composition, color theory, layering, and basic brushwork.
- Mixed Media: Collage and assemblage using paper, fabric, found objects, ink, and acrylics to create textured artworks or art journals. Focus: creativity, combining materials, design balance, and storytelling. Food will not be served during camp, so please ensure your child is fed prior to attending camp. Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle daily.
